The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a clarification regarding false claims that prospective corps members without Call-Up Numbers should visit state secretariats to retrieve them.
In a statement released on Tuesday, 14 January 2025, Caroline Embu, the NYSC Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, confirmed that such claims are entirely untrue and did not originate from the organisation.
Key Details About 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II Registration
NYSC registration for the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II began on 6 January 2025 via the official NYSC portal at www.nysc.org.ng.
Prospective corps members are required to upload critical documents during the registration process. These documents include:
Degree certificates
Recent passport photographs
Matriculation numbers
The registration process is mandatory for all graduates approved by their institution’s Senate or Academic Board during the mobilisation period.
Caroline Embu encouraged prospective corps members awaiting their Call-Up Numbers to remain patient and continue monitoring their dashboards for updates.
She emphasised that all official communications are disseminated through individual dashboards and NYSC’s verified social media channels, such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Threads.
Addressing Registration Portal Challenges
NYSC also addressed concerns about the accessibility of its registration portal. While some prospective corps members have reported difficulties accessing the portal, the organisation assured the public that the portal remains active and operational.
These reassurances followed disruptions reported on 5 January 2025, when numerous users experienced challenges completing their registrations.
Official Guidance for Corps Members
In response to circulating misinformation, NYSC advises prospective corps members to rely solely on updates provided through its official channels.
A comprehensive, step-by-step guide is available to assist with the registration process. This guide covers all essential stages, including:
Account creation
Uploading required documents
Biometric data capture
The NYSC management also reiterated that no prospective corps member would need to visit a state secretariat to obtain a Call-Up Number. Instead, they should wait for updates through the appropriate channels.
NYSC Mission and Commitment
The NYSC scheme, a mandatory programme established by the Nigerian government, aims to promote national unity and integration. Participation in the scheme is a requirement for all Nigerian graduates of recognised tertiary institutions.
Through transparent and efficient communication, NYSC continues to prioritise the needs of prospective corps members, ensuring they receive accurate information throughout the mobilisation and registration process.
